How to prepare your home for a cleaner
You do not need to clean before a cleaner arrives. A small amount of preparation simply removes ambiguity, protects valuables and lets the booked time go toward the work you care about.
Clear access, not every sign of life
Move fragile objects, important documents and loose personal items away from the surfaces you want cleaned. Put away anything private and make sure the cleaner can safely enter the rooms included in the scope.
- Secure cash, jewellery, medicine and confidential documents
- Move delicate ornaments you do not want handled
- Explain alarm, key or concierge arrangements
- Keep pets safely separated if needed
- Point out surfaces that require special products
Choose the priorities
If the available time is limited, name the two or three outcomes that matter most. A clear priority order is more useful than an unrealistic list that treats every task as equally urgent.
Mention unusual conditions early
Heavy build-up, hazardous materials, pests, mould, unsafe access and specialist fabrics can change what is safe or possible. Share those details before confirmation so the request can be accepted, adjusted or declined responsibly.
Check the result fairly
Review the agreed scope rather than assuming every household task was included. Report a genuine issue promptly with a clear description and photographs where appropriate.
